Sept. 8, 1969 — COUNTY FAIR ROYALTY

Debbie Chronic and Steve Riffle, both of the Lakeside Lakers 4-H Club, were crowned queen and king of the 1969 Bonner County Fair on Thursday. In Saturday evening’s events they helped award trophies and other honors to a long list of master award winners: Dennis McNall and Danny Wood were named top beef showmen; Camilla Woods won the trophy for the best 4-H forestry project; Tom Briggs won the Future Farmers of America tractor driving contest trophy; Patty Spade had the grand champion sheep and Jaye Pietsch was named first year 4-H fitting and showing champion for her blue ribbon registered Hereford senior calf.

CHARLES BARNHARTS WED IN OREGON

Miss Carol Ann McCormick of Adrian, Ore., was married June 14 to Charles Barnhart, Careywood, in an double-ring ceremony in the garden of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McCormick, Adrian.

Mr. and Mrs. Barnhart are residing on a ranch on Huckleberry Mountain above Careywood following a honeymoon trip.

NEW PRACTICAL NURSE GRADUATES

Graduating last Thursday night from a long course in practical nursing were Mary Ann Clary, Kathy Feller, Tess Gallaher, Mary Mask and Avery Perkins. The ceremony was held at Washington School with representatives of the hospital, school district, Idaho State Department of Employment and their families present.

Mayor Elliott, Dr. Wendle, president of the commercial club; Sheriff Spoor and “Peg” Jacobson, “mayor of Dover,” have been promised places in the reception committee at Coeur d’Alene on the occasion of President Wilson’s visit to that city next Friday.

SAGLE MILL BURNS

The sawmill and planer belonging to Charles and Oscar Turnbull at Sagle was destroyed by fire last night, according to reports received in the city this morning. Members of the family were awakened at about midnight to find the mill a mass of flames. What part of the loss is covered by insurance is not known.

BOY INJURES HAND

Stanley Black, 8-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Black, last Friday lost the first joint of one of his fingers when his hand was caught in a home-made merry-go-round he and some of his neighbor children had built on a vacant lot near the Black residence, 820 Lake street. This is the lad’s second accident of the summer, the first having occurred when he was bitten by the monkey belonging to the Sanger circus, which exhibited here about two months ago.
