Sept. 10, 1969 — A SCOUT IS HELPFUL

Darryl David, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce David, recently helped clean up the lot at the indoor Sandpoint Rifle Range as a requirement for his public service badge. David has now completed all of his merit badge requirements for Eagle Scout and is awaiting his opportunity to go before the Eagle review board. He is a member of Troop 102. Jim Nelson is his scoutmaster.

LESTER JOHNSON AT ROGERS

A senior at Eastern Washington State College, Lester W. Johnson, Sandpoint, has begun his student teaching assignment for fall quarter.

Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson, and a graduate of Sandpoint Senior High, is teaching at Rogers High School in Spokane.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Davis and family, Mr. and Mrs. Denny Shields and Tim, and Mr. and Mrs. Art Burnett were among the group of cattlemen and CowBelles who recently made a four-day trip into Canada.

Guests at the Jerry Fitzpatrick home Sunday were Mrs. Jean Michalk and son Bill, of Bonners Ferry, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stark and family of Pack River, Mrs. Sue Fitzpatrick and Lou Bower of Sandpoint.

The marriage of Miss Marjorie Catlin and Harold Roehm of Berkeley, Cal., will take place at the Catlin residence, 421 S. First avenue tomorrow, the Rev. W.L. Livingston officiating.

BONNER SPUDS WIN PRAISE

E.R. Bennett, University of Idaho potato specialist who spent all of last week working among the potato growers of this county said, “I consider Bonner county the best potential seed potato district in the state.” Under direction of H.F. Shedler, potato project leader of the county farm bureau, 16 meetings were held right out in the fields, attended by 180 farmers in total.

TO VISIT BROTHER

Miss Marie Vaillancourt, stenographer in the county office of the agriculturist and engineer, leaves Sunday for Missoula to visit her brother.

TEACHERS PRAISE TREATMENT HERE

Sandpoint people who took part in the effort to make things pleasant for the assembled teachers in town last week got their reward in numerous expressions of appreciation from those who attended the institute. Kootenai county’s superintendent took pains to tell us how pleased he was with the uniform courtesy given the teachers and the thorough preparation made for their entertainment, and to ask that his message be handed on to the people of the city.
