BCGA announces 2019 fall workshop series

| September 17, 2019 1:00 AM

Autumn has its own garden chores and planting possibilities that will be discussed during the four-part 2019 Home Horticulture Workshop Series presented by the Bonner County Master Gardeners.

Classes will be held at the Ponderay Events Center, 401 Bonner Mall Way, Suite F., Ponderay.

All classes will be held Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m., as follows:

Sept. 18 — Landscaping with Native Plants will be presented by Gail Bolin and Bob Wilson.

Attendees will learn the advantages of a garden featuring plants that are habituated to our climate, and that once established, need little care to survive.

Sept. 25 — Saving Seeds from your Garden, taught by Manuela Eiring, will reveal how to save seeds from special plants and store them for best results. Class members will learn some important considerations in selecting plants for seed-saving.

Oct. 2 — How to Grow your own Garlic: Janae Dale will discuss this crop that can be planted in the fall. She will explain what soil conditions are needed for wonderful garlic, where and how to plant and the calendar of “garlic growing.”

Oct. 9 — Season Extenders will be presented by Nancy Hastings, who points out that your garden does not have to end with the first frost and shows ways of prolonging the garden season with a few simple tools.

Classes are $10 each per person. Fees cover the cost of venue, publications, and the non-profit activities of the BCGA. You may indicate the classes you wish to attend and send with a check to the address listed above.

You may also pay online with a credit card via “Pay Pal” at bcgardeners.org. or show up for class with cash or a check. It is requested that attendees not bring children under 12.
