Doris Ann Keener, 95

Doris Ann Keener, 95, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Private family services have been held.

Doris was born on December 25, 1923, at home in Sandpoint, the sixth of seven children born to Clarence and Grace Sylvester.

Doris married Kenna Keener on March 16, 1942, in Libby, Mont. They raised seven children together.

Doris worked as a nurse’s aide at the Sand-point Manor. She earned her licensed practical nurse degree at the Seventh-day Adventist College in Portland and spent 19 years working as a nurse at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland.

In 1983, the family moved back to the property on Gold Creek. Doris loved family gatherings and holidays. She also enjoyed picking huckleberries, gardening, cooking, and quilting. Doris and husband Ken practiced their Christian faith and values throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband of 77 years, Kenna Keener of Sandpoint; six children, Linda Lucus, Kathy Meyer, Terry Keener and Lori (Phil) Siemers, all of Sandpoint, Kenneth (Char) Keener of Spokane, and Rick (Judi) Keener of Arizona; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and daughter Melody Keener.
