Lakes board meeting set for Oct. 4

SANDPOINT — The Idaho Lakes Commission will be covering a lot of ground when it convenes on Friday, Oct. 4.

The meeting shoves off at 9 a.m. at the Columbia Bank Building at the corner of Fifth and Church.

The panel will take in a presentation on the Cabinet Gorge fish passage project by Nate Hall and Eric Oldenburg. Hall is Avista’s Clark Fork license manager and Oldenburg is the utility company’s fisheries biologist. Amanda Collins, operations program manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Albeni Falls Dam will provide an update on the Clark Fork Driftyard and an official from the Idaho State Department of Agriculture will bring the commission up to speed on aquatic invasive species.

Doug Jones of the Idaho Department of Water Resources will discuss water management and the Outlet Bay Dam at Priest Lake, while Steve Klatt of Bonner County Road & Bridge will update the board on project at the Thorofare on Priest Lake.

The meeting is set to conclude with a presentation on water rights adjudication by state Sen. Jim Woodward.
