Stop signs go in at busy intersection

| September 25, 2019 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — If you’re driving in the area of Pine and Division, you’ll want to note the addition of the new four-way stop signs at the busy intersection.

City Administrator Jennifer Stapleton said crews were scheduled to install the new four-way stop signs at the intersection before 6:30 a.m.

“This is a temporary solution designed to improve safety for everyone at this intersection,” she said. “It will provide a controlled intersection for students crossing Division to attend school and will slow down speeds of motorists in the area.”

Sandpoint Police will be providing extra patrols in the morning and throughout the week as everyone adjusts to the traffic controls.

A full safety audit of the corridor is being conducted as part of the city’s Multimodal Transportation Master Plan and will ultimately determine permanent safety improvements to be made, Stapleton said.
