Let’s get this country back to work and free Idaho

| April 5, 2020 1:00 AM

On March 25, Governor Little ordered all persons in Idaho to forsake our jobs, businesses, churches, and civic responsibilities and remain at home. This action will do nothing to prevent the inevitable exposure of substantially every human on Earth to SARS-CoV2, but it will devastate our economy, violate our liberty, shatter our communities, and turn us all into chattels wholly dependent upon government handouts for survival. These are goals consistent with the values of Californians, not Idahoans.

Governor Little’s order is unnecessary: anyone wishing to do this in an attempt to avoid exposure to the virus was free to do so already. It is unconscionable: the rights of citizens to work, assemble, and maintain our relationships with one another are fundamental and beyond the proper authority of the state to infringe. It is unhinged: there is no evidence that the governor or his peers understand that the damage their actions will do will be many times greater than the damage done by COVID-19 in even a worst-case scenario.

I urge my fellow citizens to call the governor’s office and demand his resignation, and to write our legislators to demand that they remove the governor from office and rescind his disgraceful orders that so strongly conflict with our deeply held values of liberty and livelihood. Let’s set an example for the rest of the country, get back to work, and Free Idaho!
