Apr. 7, 1970 – PRE-NATAL CLINIC

Bonner County Homemakers Council will sponsor a pre-natal clinic beginning Saturday from 7-9 p.m. in the Community hall, for mothers, fathers, grandmothers and prospective adoptive parents. Miss Carol Hall, Bonner county public health nurse, will present the six-week course.

HOSPITAL GETS LIFESAVING GIFT

Bonner General Hospital received a valuable piece of life-support equipment this week as a memorial to Mrs. Thomas Moran, a longtime Sandpoint resident who died March 16. The equipment, a Bird Mark 14 Positive Phase Ventilator valued at $550, is a gift of Dr. Forrest M. Bird of Glengary Bay, whose firm, Bird Space Technology, Inc. manufactures the equipment. Mrs. Moran was Bird’s mother-in-law.

ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED

Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Gunderson of Clark Fork announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Carol, to John A. MacPhee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Craig MacPhee, Moscow. Miss Gunderson will graduate in June from the University of Idaho. MacPhee, a 1969 U of I graduate, is employed by Idaho First National Bank in Coeur d’Alene. The wedding is planned for June 6 in Sandpoint’s First Lutheran Church.

R.B. Himes yesterday visited the Priest River camps of the Humbird Lumber company where he took pictures of logging operations.

The St. James cafe’s kitchen has added a large temperature regulated cold storage chamber.

James Bopp is spending his Easter vacation with the family of his uncle at Cocolalla.

$50,000 PACKING PLANT FOR CITY

After visiting the northwest’s most modern packing plants, Phil Willi of the Bonner Meat co. has plans to give Sandpoint and Bonner county a $50,000 packing plant, starting construction as soon as weather permits. The plant will be one of the most up-to-date in the region with a building 60x100 feet, two stories with a basement, built of brick or concrete. Only up-to-date equipment will be installed including the latest improved ammonia refrigerating system and ice plant.

RODENT CONTROL CAMPAIGN

Bonner county ground squirrels will be knocked galley west from here on, henceforth, for some time to come. County Farm Agent Ludwick has a plan for a county wide rodent extermination campaign and has arranged demonstrations on how to drive the diminutive crop destroyers to the bitter end of their frisky careers. He has received an ample supply of strychnine which will be issued to county farmers and ranchers in abundantly effective proportions.
