During lockdown, think about how to help others

| April 9, 2020 1:00 AM

Twenty-one days of stay at home. How about 21 days of no climate change, guns at the Festival, or political statements? How about 21 days of remembering the large economic divide in this community and figuring out a way to help those in need? It’s not a handout, it’s about paying for rent or food.

Many people in this community help out year round, like Rotary Club, or the many other charities. Now while stuck at home, it would be a good time to clean your house and find things to donate to animal shelter or Goodwill. And if the government sends you a check soon, and you’re still working and collecting a paycheck, how about thinking about handing over to the many workers now unemployed? The servers and workers at the restaurants, bars, barbershops, stores, school teachers, the list goes on and on. Knowing when your boat is going in the lake or when your first tee time will be is not what you should be thinking about at a time like this.
