Apr. 21, 1970 – BREAK-IN

Philip Guyette, 402½ Antone, told police his home was broken into Saturday. Nothing was taken but Guyette said the prowler had a snack and a can of beer while in his home.

GERTRUDE MULL HONORED

Mrs. Gertrude Mull was pleasantly surprised when members of Dover’s R.W. Club honored her with a party on her 89th birthday. A longtime R.W. Club member, Mrs. Mull resided in the Wrencoe community before moving to Sandpoint Manor.

SANDPOINT JUNIOR CLUB

Sandpoint Junior Woman’s Club met at the Pastime, Mrs. L.J. Stevens and Mrs. Les Rogers initiating eight members: Joan Davis, Deanna Willmes, Kathy Stockton, Edie McCormick, Mary Lou Soukop, Carol deHaan, Sharon McCormick and Linda Kopke. Officers elected are: President, Mrs. Deeter deHaan; vice president, Mrs. Donald McCormick; recording secretary, Mrs. W.M. Isbell; corresponding secretary, Mrs. James Austin; treasurer, Mrs. Terry Park.

SANDPOINT YOUTH ORGANIZE LEO CLUB

Publicity chairman Linda Hancock announced the organization of the Sandpoint Leo Club, a community service club sponsored by the Lions Club. Officers are: President Joe Robinson, Vice President Kent Lyons, Secretary Debbie Haugse, Treasurer Sharon Bolstad, and directors Dave Winfrey, Ross Morrison and Bill Callen. The club’s advisor is Dale Pelton.

Apr. 21, 1920 – BODE CORNER SOLD

The Bode property, corner of Pine street and First avenue (102 S. 1st) sold this week to Dr. T.J. Peet, osteopath, who will make repairs on the building before occupying it as an office building.

START WORK ON STREET GRADE

At Monday’s city council meeting, the aldermen decided to undertake street improvement. It was voted that the streets be dragged and graded, fills made where necessary and such other work executed as will relieve the all but impassable condition into which many of them have fallen during the soft weather the past few months.

BONNER EXHIBITS

The three-day Spokane Sportsmen’s and Tourists’ fair included a large Bonner county exhibit, with mounted heads of big game, a large stuffed char and fish frozen in ice, all arranged by County Commissioner William C. Ashley.
