Gypsy Bay bridge to be replaced

SANDPOINT — A deteriorating bridge deck spanning Little Muskrat Lake is slated for replacement.

Bonner County commissioners unanimously approved a $43,418 expenditure Tuesday to purchase a pre-engineered bridge on Gypsy Bay Road.

Road & Bridge Director Steve Klatt said the existing bridge deck will be removed, although its supporting structure will be retained.

“We’re leaving the framing structure in place,” Klatt said.

The new one-lane bridge deck is manufactured by TrueNorth Steel and measures 16 feet by 45 feet, according to Klatt. The new bridge deck is a pan in which gravel will be placed to even the surface.
