Russell Henry Lacy, 63

Russell Henry Lacy, 63, lost his brave battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at his home in Sandpoint, Idaho with his wife Linda of over 30 years by his side.

Russell was born on December 29, 1956 in Hyannis, Massachusetts to David and LaRue Lacy. The family settled in the Castlewood Court neighborhood in Potomac, MD. Many lifelong friends were made in that neighborhood, with carefree days spent playing under the powerlines. He attended school there and graduated from Churchill High School in 1975. Following high school he attended the University of Maryland, before deciding to put his mechanic skills to work. He began his longtime career as an auto technician at the Auto Haus in Rockville.

Russell and Linda (Burt) Stensland were married on July 3, 1989 and one year later son, Travis was born. In 2003 he was finally convinced by Linda and Travis to move to Idaho (the pretty part), where he was employed at Six Star Automotive.

Russell gave his very best to everything he was involved in, which can be attested to by many softball players, volleyball players and anyone involved with the Festival at Sandpoint, where he served for many years as head of security. He was also very active in the First Lutheran Church and was known for doing anything and everything that needed doing, from serving as church council president to changing light bulbs.

He is survived by his wife Linda of Sandpoint and son Travis Lacy of Careywood; mother LaRue Lacy of Cleveland, OH; father David (Dreena) Lacy of Reston, VA; two sisters Cheryl (Jim) Hlavaty and Paula Lacy all from Cleveland; stepson Jeff Stensland (and Amber Cook) of Boise; stepdaughter Tami Stensland of Rockville, MD; and six grandchildren.

All whose lives were touched by Russell are invited to a celebration of his life on Saturday, September 5th beginning with a memorial at Travers Park (Field 1) at 1:00 pm and continuing at the Orchard at 2251 Ontario St. Anyone not inclined to go to Travers Park first is welcome to go directly to the orchard.
