POST FALLS — Clark Fork girls basketball rolled to a season-opening victory over Genesis Prep on Thursday night.

The Lady Cats struggled out of the gates, but once they settled in they cruised to a 38-7 win over the Panthers.

Head coach Jordan Adams said the team showed tremendous chemistry.

"It was awesome," she said. "They played so well together. Everybody gets along amazing. We've got some new kids on the team that have gone above and beyond. They've learned multiple positions in a very short amount of time."

Clark Fork held a 6-0 lead after the first quarter, but in the second the Lady Cats took off and scored 19 points to take a commanding 25-3 advantage into the locker room.

In the second half, Adams got her younger players plenty of playing time and the Lady Cats didn't miss a beat.

Katelyn Matteson led the way with 10 points, nine steals and five rebounds. Freshman Lily Reuter stepped up in her first career varsity game and tallied 9 points, four steals and four assists, and freshman Eloise Shelton did as well scoring 8 points.

Emily Myers had 5 points and Paige Valliere added 4.

Adams is excited to see where her team goes from here.

"Super cool to have our first game underneath our belt," she said.

Clark Fork (1-0) heads to Mullan on Thursday.
