Bong (Minnie) Sun Williams, 77
Bong (Minnie) Sun Williams, 77, passed away peacefully, with family by her side on Friday, November 27, 2020, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Bong was born on October 4, 1943, in Seoul, South Korea.
In Korea, she worked as a translator helping Military Police. In 1972 it was where she met her husband, John Williams, who was serving in the U.S. Army. She and John traveled the countryside where she translated as he was transporting military personnel.
Bong came to the U.S. in 1973. She and John were married in Carson City, Nevada on March 30, 1973. After spending time for deployment in Germany, they eventually moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1978 where they lived for 29 years to raise a family and she became a staple of the community. They moved to Meridian, Idaho, in 2007.
Among her many achievements, becoming a U.S. Citizen on May 4, 1982, was very high on the list.
Bong enjoyed serving others and spent 15 years with the Lake Pend Oreille School District working at Northside Elementary School as head custodian. She loved interacting with the kids, parents, and school staff.
Outside of work, and in retirement, Bong enjoyed outdoor activities, traveling, and playing the slot machines at Casinos.
Many close to Bong knew her love of music, particularly anything by Elvis Presley or Michael Bolton.
She is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Edie Williams Nunes; son, Jason; two grandsons and their father, Evan and Aiden (Steve Nunes); sister-in-law, Irene Williams; nephews, Timothy and Charlie Williams; and nieces, Amy Lunsford and Donna Lee Randolph.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
There are no funeral services scheduled.
