OPINION: AVIATION FIELD & TOURIST PARK

Two things Sandpoint should have next year are an aviation field and a well located tourist park. The aviation field need not be pretentious, but it will not be long before routes are established across the country, and if Sandpoint is to be considered in the reckoning when that time comes, it should be ready with a landing field that may be developed into a big affair. With the tourist park, the city has already seen the necessity of a real park; no makeshift. Towns which solved this with well equipped parks are reaping big rewards for small investments.

CITY BREVITIES

County Treasurer Coons is having his troubles these days. The last legislature made the county treasurer’s office the collector of dog taxes. Thus, the dog tax became part of the tax against real estate. Between dogs taxed which taxpayers insist do not belong to them and those who claim the $2 dog tax is more than their dog is worth, the treasurer and his staff have “dog days” every day.
