The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office Dive Rescue Team responded to a call for a vehicle in Hayden Lake at the Honeysuckle Boat launch Monday evening.

When crews arrived on the scene, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office dive team and fire personnel discovered a vehicle in the water. April D. Heath, 39, of Spirit Lake was removed from the vehicle and medical personnel immediately started life-saving measures.

Heath was transported to Kootenai Health for life-threatening injuries. No other passengers were found.

At this time the cause of the accident is unknown but based on evidence in the vehicle it appears alcohol was a possible factor, KCSO officials said in a press release. The vehicle and the area around the vehicle was searched and no other people were located

Responding to the call were Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Northern Lake Fire and Rescue, as well as the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Dive Rescue Team.

There were no further updates on Heath’s condition on Tuesday.
