POST FALLS — The Post Falls freshman team hit a 3-pointer in the closing seconds Wednesday night to steal a 38-37 win from the Clark Fork boys basketball team.

With under 30 seconds left in the game, the Wampus Cats led 37-35. A shooter for the Trojans then broke free and nailed a 3-pointer to put them ahead with 12.5 seconds left.

Following the basket, head coach Heath Beason said he called a timeout, drew up a play and the team executed it to perfection, but an uncontested 3-pointer rattled in and out for the Wampus Cats.

"We had our opportunity and we didn't take care of it," he said, "but we shouldn't have been in that situation."

Beason saw a lot of great things from his team, but 24 turnovers doomed Clark Fork.

"For some reason, we're just struggling to take care of the ball," he said. "The kids played hard, but we're not going to be successful if we don't get some pretty big things changed and turned around."

Carter Sanroman scored 14 points, Cameron Garcia had 10 and Chris Wade added 4.

Clark Fork (0-3) plays Priest River at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Priest River Christmas Tournament.
