David Michal Blair

| December 18, 2020 1:00 AM

On Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, David Michal Blair, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away at the age of 67 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

David Blair was born May 27, 1953, in Lodi, California, to Richard Blair and Betty Gemar.

David grew up with his siblings Richard Blair and Patricia Blair until he joined the military service after high school.

After serving in the United States Air Force, he moved to Challis, Idaho where he began working for the U.S. Forest Service. David attended aviation school in Pocatello, Idaho, while living with his sister Pat. With this education he became an aviation mechanic with Rocky Mountain Helicopter. This career took David all over the world to places like Thailand, Iran and Hawaii.

David met his wife Carol at Togwotee Mountain Lodge, located in Wyoming. Years later they raised a family just south of where they met in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. David loved to ski, turkey hunt, take the boat out on the water and, above all, fly fish. You could often find him spending hours playing board games with his grandson Ryley while sharing countless jokes with everyone that will be told forever.

David is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol Blair of Sandpoint, Idaho, and his two sons and their wives, Matthew Blair (McKenzie) of Bedford, Pennsylvania, and Adam Blair (Kristie) of Coeur d’Alene. David was blessed with three grandchildren, Ryley, Lanie and Maxx. David's surviving siblings are Richard Blair of Stanley, Idaho, and Pat Hinojosa of Lodi, California. He will be remembered by many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and many loving friends.

David’s kind heart, spirit of adventure, curiosity for life and all of the people in it is surrounding his loved ones and will continue to be felt for those of us who were honored to share in his spirit.

A service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at 2 p.m. at The Sandpoint Church of God, 221 S. Division Ave., Sandpoint. In lieu of flowers, donation options will be available from the family and at the service.

Family and friends are invited to sign the online guestbook, for David, at coffeltfuneral.com.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
