New library services help readers and authors alike

We have big news to share. The Library recently acquired a collection of fun new services for readers AND writers, from BiblioBoard. We’re very excited about them, and hope you will be, too. These new resources can all be found on the Digital Library page of ebonnerlibrary.org, under BiblioBoard Create / Discover / Share:

Pressbooks ("Create") is a self-publishing platform for people to create and publish their own work. If you are a writer, this is the tool for you. You can design books, newsletters, poetry, novels, and any other written content in digital and print-ready formats. The first time you open Pressbooks, select "Connect via your local library" before clicking the "Get started now" link to create an account. After that, you can log in with whatever account credentials you created.

BiblioBoard Library ("Discover") contains e-books, e-audiobooks, movies, and music — similar to OverDrive or Hoopla, but with no checkout limits (items are always available). There are also apps for Apple, Android, and Kindle devices.

If you are a local author and use the “Share” tool described below, your book could show up on this page. Scroll to the bottom of the page to check out the “East Bonner County Public Library Featured Authors.” Right now we only have a couple of local titles on there, so please submit your work to help us grow this collection. If you’re in the Library’s service area (East Bonner County), you don’t have to log in to use the site, but you must create an account to save favorites and bookmarks.

The Indie Author Project ("Share") allows authors to upload their finished work and have it shared in libraries across Idaho, and potentially get chosen for the "select" program, which showcases high-quality titles from across the country. If you have written anything you’d like to share, all you need is a PDF or ePUB file and 5 minutes to complete the submission process.

We are so grateful for all the readers, writers, and creators in our community, and we hope you take full advantage of these new services.

Happy Holidays!
