Dwan Dean, 85, passed away in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2020, in the Westmond Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Bishop Shaun Leonard will be officiating.
Dwan was born on Sept. 30, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Glenwood and Verena Barnhurst. The family moved to Southern California and she graduated from high school and the community college in Pomona, California; with an associate’s degree. She had managed the “Toy City” toy store, in Brea, California, for many years.
She married James M. Dean on September 21, 1958, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The family lived in Brea, where she became a homemaker and a mother.
She moved to Careywood, Idaho, in 1978.
She enjoyed doing craft projects and sharing her creations with others. She would raise a large garden, can the produce, then share the fruits of her labor with family and friends. Sharing and giving were very important to Dwan.
Dwan is survived by two sons, James Dean of Post Falls, Idaho, and Mark Dean of Sandpoint, Idaho; and her daughter, Sherri Dean of Careywood, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and her husband.
