Governor Brad Little has appointed a former Priest Lake resident to the Idaho Travel Council. Kayoko Magnus was appointed to represent North Idaho’s Region 1 for a three-year term.

Magnus has worked for Hagadone Hospitality for 24 years where she is now the associate director of sales for the Coeur d’Alene Resort. A veteran of the hospitality industry, Magnus began her career cleaning cabins at Hills Resort in Priest Lake, Idaho and gained experience through restaurant, guest services and sales positions. She holds a bachelor of science in business marketing from the University of Idaho and is a member of Meeting Professionals International and Society for Incentive Travel Excellence Southern California.

Outside of the office, Kayoko volunteers for several non-profit organizations including the Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Club of Kootenai County, and United Way, where she assisted in making pre-K literacy kits for families in need. A true northern Idahoan, she loves hiking, biking, camping, snow sports and spending time on the lake.

“We are excited to welcome Ms. Magnus to the Idaho Travel Council,” said Idaho Commerce Director Tom Kealey. “Her broad hospitality background and love of the outdoors will be an asset to the council and Idaho Tourism’s mission to position Idaho as an exceptional travel and recreation destination.”

The Idaho Travel Council’s primary purpose is to advise the Idaho Department of Commerce-Tourism Development activities and programs. The council also awards grants to applicants of the Idaho Regional Travel and Convention Grant Program. Additionally, council members work closely with tourism organizations and businesses in Idaho on viable marketing opportunities and ways to represent their interests to state government.

The Idaho Travel Council consists of eight governor-appointed members: seven members each representing one of Idaho’s development regions, and one member appointed at-large.
