Coolin call ends without incident

COOLIN — A call ended in a waiting game as Bonner County and Priest River worked to get an individual out of his home without incident Wednesday afternoon.

An abundance of caution and effort to keep the individual safe, the officers and deputies safe and the community safe resulted in what appeared to be a large law enforcement presence, said Capt. Tim Hemphill.

Bonner County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home after receiving report from others concerned about the man’s well-being and about comments he was making. Deputies and police officers talked to the man through an open window and were eventually able to convince him to leave the home peacefully.

“We took our time out of a desire to make every effort to peacefully de-escalate the situation,” Hemphill said.
