Feb. 9, 1970 – HARRY NESBITT DEAD AT 91

A colorful career spanning nearly a century came to a close here with the death of Harry E. Nesbitt Monday. Coming here at age 10 with his parents, he was an early trapper, bridge builder and motel operator. He served 12 years on the Sandpoint city council and was on the city water board for many years. In 1944, Harry purchased the Lakeshore Motel (now the site of the North Shore Lodge) [Ed. Note: in 2020, the Edgewater Best Western Resort] from Harry Krebs. He built new cabins, refurbished others, and had a thriving business with 16 units facing Lake Pend Oreille.

Nesbitt is survived by his wife, Olive Page Nesbitt, the daughter of Dr. O.F. Page, pioneer Sandpoint physician. They were married in 1905.
