SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint High School eSports team club competed in its first League of Legends event of the spring season last Tuesday against Madison High School in Rexburg, Idaho. The Bulldogs emerged victorious winning the match 2-0.

The team was led by captain Joel Hill and shot-caller Ixander Clerique. Other team members were Josiah Hill, Stanton Wilburn and Ethan Darling.

Game one was a hard-fought battle as Sandpoint trailed for much of the match, but in the end the Bulldogs pulled out a win. Clerique was the top performer in the game.

In the second game, the Bulldogs hit their stride and took care of Madison swiftly thanks to Joel Hill who pushed the team to victory.

“I’m super proud of how the team did today,” club adviser Dalton Hawkins wrote in an email. “There are a few things that we found we need to work on such as communication and staying on task. The first game was a big struggle in terms of players not working together and doing their own thing. The second game showed us what can happen if we start working together. I have high hopes for the rest of the season.”

When possible, the club’s games are streamed online on Twitch at twitch.tv/sandpointesports.
