Wilbur ‘Phil’ Clark

Wilbur Rueben Clark, known by many as “Phil”, passed away from a long battle with dementia on February 15, 2020 at the age of 79 years.

Born premature by several months he was kept in his parent’s (Ruby Maxine and Wilbur Harry) dresser drawer in Woodland, Washington until he was old enough for a crib.

He spent his youth growing up in logging camps throughout Washing-ton, Montana and the panhandle of Idaho specifically his family’s farm in Priest River. His father told him he shouldn’t be a logger so he went into construction and found a career in tunneling.

Phil built many tunnels in New York, California, Alaska and Oregon as a superintendent for Constructors PAMCO until retiring in 1996.

He spent his post-retirement years doing what he was best at: being a grandfather to 8 grandkids and a great-grandfather to 6 great-grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane (nee Lindroth); sons Wil and Brian; daughter Christine; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Phil’s life will be held at on Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m. at the Neuwaukum Wedding & Event Hall 38402 180th Ave. SE Auburn, Washington.
