No deaths resulted in Sandpoint from the general epidemic unless there were complications which it precipitated. The flu was accompanied this year by a large number of cases of other diseases, including smallpox and diphtheria and some cases of scarlet fever.

Otto Greenhood organized the company as an adjunct to his bottling business. Charles Coffeen, an experienced candymaker from Spokane, is in charge of production. This week’s production was 400 to 500 pounds.

After being closed to navigation for a period of 80 days beginning Dec. 3, Sandpoint harbor was opened for boat traffic Monday, the recent winds having done much toward breaking up the ice.
