Bonners Ferry man dies in crash

EASTPORT — A Bonners Ferry resident died Tuesday after his vehicle went off the roadway on Highway 95 about nine miles south of Eastport and struck a power pole.

Idaho State police said Shawn M. Russell, 40, of Bonners Ferry was southbound in the 529000 block of the highway about 4:26 p.m. when his 1996 Mercury Sable left the right shoulder of the roadway, impacting the power pole. Russell was pronounced deceased at the scene, ISP officials said in a press release. The roadway was closed for about five hours.

Russell was wearing a seatbelt. Next of kin has been notified.
