First '20 meeting is a quick one
Not a record, according to Bonner County Commissioner Dan McDonald, but close.
Tuesday’s business was dispatched in less than ten minutes.
“Our record is five minutes,” he said after the meeting. “Our longest meeting was four hours. What you don’t see is how much work we put in before we bring it here. Come back, our meetings are often more interesting.”
The meeting was conducted by board chair Dan McDonald with Commissioner Steven Bradshaw in attendance. Commissioner Jeff Connolly was absent.
The agenda, not counting the consent agenda and executive session, consisted of only three items. Cindy Binkerd, Bonner County Human Resources Director asked officials for approval to destroy employment application records prior to 2018 which was granted.
Nate Demmons, Bonner County Parks and Waterways Recreation Manager requested opening of the budget to deposit $2,000 to cover the cost of snowplowing in the Priest Lake area.
“There’s been an issue with snowplowing at Lionshead with parked snowmobiles blocking the way,” Demmons explained and added that property owners were willing to help foot the cost in order to have the snow removed. This was also approved.
And, finally, Steve Klatt, Bonner County Road and Bridge Director, sought commissioners’ authorization to close on a piece of property located at 11 South Sagle Road in Sagle. This parcel is part of the Robert Jacobson estate. Klatt said that if it was built on, it could cause issues with visibility.
“We’ve already gone in there with a weed eater to clear it. Purchasing this property benefits the safety of the roads,” he said. A member of the audience asked if the property was near the gravel pits and Klatt said that it was not. “It’s at Lignite Road just past Sagle Road.”
The consent was given for proceeding to closing. Bradshaw complimented Klatt on how well his staff is handling snow removal so far this winter.
The County Commissioners meet every Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Bonner County Administration Building, 1500 Highway 2, on the third floor. The agenda is posted 48 hours prior to the meeting at bonnercountyid.gov.
