MCC seeks new board members

| January 12, 2020 12:00 AM

HOPE — Memorial Community Center needs your help.

The terms of four board members ended in December and they chose not to renew their positions, MCC executive director Carolyn Speelmon said.

With only one board member returning, the center needs at least three board members according to its bylaws to conduct business. The center will hold nominations and elections at its annual meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 5:30 p.m.

“We are hoping that we have some community leaders out there who believe in our mission and purpose who are willing to step up and become a part of our team at MCC,” executive director Carolyn Speelmon said.

The main responsibilities of board members are to uphold our bylaws, and make sound decisions for the community center. If the center does not have at least three board members in place, Speelmon said the center will be in violation of its bylaws and may have to dissolve if this issue is not resolved.
