There’s a whole lotta fun packed into a short seven days as winter shows no sign of slowing the fun. What’s up, you ask? Here’s just the appetizer: Thom Shepherd and Coley McCabe Shepherd are preforming tonight at DiLun’as in a not-to-be-missed concer, the Panida plays host to a pair of Oscar-nominated films this week and Saturday’s North Idaho Women in Ag Conference invites all women farmers to come in for a day of learning, networking and fun.

THURSDAY, JAN. 23

‘JoJo Rabbit’

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave.

Writer/director Taika Waititi brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film,a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother is hiding a young Jewish girl in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler, Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Trop Rock Music Association and People’s Choice Awards’ Duo of the Year, Thom Shepherd and Coley McCabe Shepherd were both working for Nashville publishing companies in the same building when they met. Today they are a full-time traveling duo, singing songs that make people laugh and cry.

Let’s Talk About It involves book reading and discussions that include a presentation by, and interaction with, a program scholar. This month’s reading is “A Sand County Almanac” by Aldo Leopold. Echo Elysium

Baregrass and Lucas Brown

Fatty Flurry Festival

Venue: Round Lake State Park, 1880 Dufort Road, Sagle

Time: 10 a.m.

Fatty Flurry Fest is a celebration of Fat Bikes in North Idaho. Free fat bike demo from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. (18 years or older only); group rides start at 12:30 p.m. Post ride will feature some socializing and some sled pulling with some refreshments around the fire.

Anniversary Dance

USA Dance celebrates ballroom dancing in Sandpoint with an anniversary dance, beginning with a nightclub two-step lesson from 7-8 p.m., followed by general dancing, refreshments, door prizes, mixers, and an overall great time. Please bring an appetizer to share and a donation of non-perishable food for the Bonner County Food Bank. Singles and couples are welcome.

This is a one-day event held simultaneously at sites throughout Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Hawaii. The North Idaho Women in Ag Conference is an opportunity for farmers, producers, extension educators, technical assistance providers, and other women in agriculture in our region to make meaningful connections, share expertise, establish peer to peer mentors, and develop regional support networks.
