PRIEST RIVER — West Bonner County youngsters between 0 to 5 years old have free books coming their way, courtesy of the Priest River Idaho Community Foundation literacy team and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

The Dollywood Foundation’s Imagination Library makes it possible for children to receive a free book in the mail, to their home, each month. This program is available to all children ages 0 to 5 years old who reside within the boundaries of the West Bonner County School District.

“We are excited that by partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the children living in our communities will benefit greatly,” said foundation member Nadine Parker.

“Frederick Douglass once said, ‘Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.’ Through this partnership, we hope to help inspire a love of reading and learning in children, as we provide the most powerful opportunity for children to have the best start.”

Registration is now open and registration forms can be found at both the Priest River and Blanchard libraries and Idaho Hill Elementary School. Registration is now open.

Since launching in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has become the preeminent early childhood book gifting program in the world. The flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation has mailed well over 130 million free books in Australia, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom and the United States. The Imagination Library mails more than 1.5 million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to registered children from birth to age 5. Parton envisioned creating a lifelong love of reading, inspiring them to dream. The impact of the program has been widely researched and results suggest positive increases in key early childhood literacy metrics. Penguin Random House is the exclusive publisher for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
