IHE students aim to make a difference

| January 29, 2020 1:00 AM

Idaho Hill Elementary students got the chance last Thursday, Jan. 23, to dress up as their favorite animals and take part in the school’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Making a Difference Assembly.

As part of the assembly, all students were given “friendship” bracelets — one to keep and a few to share.

The idea behind the friendship bracelets was to help instill kindness to fellow classmates, Idaho Hill officials said. During the assembly, the students were asked to give another student a compliment and share a bracelet with them.

“It was a fun activity for everyone,” said Dona Storro of Idaho Hill.

In addition, the school started its “Making a Difference” paper chain. When students and staff see someone doing something nice, they can can write it on a paper chain link, which are collected on a weekly basis.

“Our goal is to make a chain of random acts of kindness stretch all the way down the long hallway,” Storro said.
