Eagles award grant to Shriners Hospital

| July 23, 2020 1:00 AM

Vickieann Dawson, the newly elected madam state president for the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Idaho, and members of her cabinet recently presented a $5,000 grant to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Spokane. The presentation took place July 13.

This grant will fund medical research at the hospital’s nationally accredited Motion Analysis Center. The MAC utilizes computer technology, along with engineering and therapy to provide quantitative measurement of the child’s function during walking and helps the physicians make the best treatment decision for children.

“When we understand how a child with mobility impairment moves, we can help them move more efficiently, more effortlessly and more confidently,” says Glen Baird, Chief of Staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children. “We are so grateful for their gift.”

Dawson chose the Spokane Shriners Hospital as her personal philanthropy, so, she will continue to garner support throughout her 12-month term. In addition, in an effort to fill an immediate need for patients and staff, she has personally sewn nearly 200 facemasks in a wide array of sizes.
