Neuder named Sandpoint’s DYW 2020
Camille Neuder was named the 2020 Distinguished Young Woman of Sandpoint winner at a program held this spring. The event, held March 21, was held at the Bonner County Fairgrounds with only family members present.
Neuder received a $3,000 scholarship for being selected as the community Distinguished Young Woman. First finalist is Libby McLaughlin, who receives a $2,000 scholarship. Autumn Morgan was named second finalist and receives a $1,000 scholarship.
Spirit Award went to Katie Stewart. She receives a $200 scholarship. The “Be Your Best Self” Award went to Katie Stewart and Camille Neuder, with each receiving a $350 scholarship. Neuder also received the fitness award and its $375 scholarship. The self-expression award went to Libby McLaughlin, who receives a $375 scholarship.
Neuder also received the talent award, the scholastic award and the judges interview award, receiving $425, $500 and $500 respectively for the awards.
Scholarships presented to participants totaled of $9,075.
This year’s DYW participants were Mandy Brown, Rosie Tientong, Jordan Cassidy, Caitlyn Smith, Camille Neuder, Libby McLaughlin, Katie Stewart, and Autumn Morgan.
Founded in 1958, Distinguished Young Women — formerly Junior Miss — is the country’s largest and oldest scholarship program for high school junior girls.
Each Distinguished Young Women program evaluates participants in the following categories: scholastics, 20 percent of overall score; interview, 25 percent of overall score; talent, 25 percent of overall score; fitness, 15 percent of overall score; and self-expression, 15 percent of overall score.
