WM: New recycling guides on their way
SANDPOINT — Waste Management and the city of Sandpoint are working together to take the guesswork out of recycling.
Customers will receive new decals on their carts and new guides in the mail to help identify what does and does not belong in curbside recycling carts.
Waste Management asks residential recycling customers to place their recycle carts at the curb (even if they are not full) on their regular service days through the end of July. Waste Management will place a decal on each cart with recycling instructions. Only the items shown on the recycle decal should be placed in the recycle cart. If you do not receive your decal by the end of July, there’s no need to call. WM will continue to apply decals to carts as needed.
By mid-July, residential recycling customers will also receive a recycle guide in the mail with a calendar and recycling instructions. This information may be found at wmnorthwest.com/sandpoint. This website is the best resource for up-to-date information and service alerts.
“To maintain a healthy recycling program in Sandpoint, we need everyone’s help to put the right items in the recycling carts,” said Jesse Granado, WM senior district manager. “If an item is not shown on the decal, recycle guide or website, it should not be placed in the recycle cart. When in doubt, throw it out.”
Granado also said plastic bags should never be placed in recycling carts and that all recyclables should be clean and dry.
In North Idaho, WM provides services for Sandpoint, Priest River, Dover, Ponderay, East Hope, Clark Fork, Kootenai and the surrounding unincorporated areas of Bonner County.
