DARYL DAVID IS NEWEST EAGLE SCOUT

Daryl David, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce David, Sandpoint, was elevated to Eagle Scout during a Troop 102 Eagle court of honor at First Lutheran Church. A special cake prepared for the occasion by master baker Jim Antenen, Rogers store, was frosted with a colored image of the badge.

SALVAGED IGA ITEMS TO BE INSPECTED

After a hearing before District Court Judge Dar Cogswell, Emmett Marley of the Sandpoint IGA agreed to inspection of all foodstuffs salvaged from the firm’s recent fire. The court ordered confiscation of the salvaged goods by Jack Ross, Health District sanitarian, who will release to the Marleys all items he considers suitable for sale.

SCHOOL TO HAVE LEARNING CENTERS

When the addition is constructed at New Farmin Elementary, the building will incorporate the modern learning center concept, with clusters of rooms grouped around learning centers. The final vote on the New Farmin learning center was 4-1 in favor, with V.A. Verhei voting against.

March 3, 1920 – CITY BREVITIES

The war department has telegraphed Idaho’s adjutant general authority to purchase horses locally through Idaho for the regiment of cavalry being organized in this state. Colonel Patch is getting in touch with horse dealers and owners to secure desirable mounts of the cavalry type.

THE SCHOOLHOUSE SITE AGAIN

The school board feels that in justice to the children of the district a new school building must be constructed, but the building cannot be constructed unless the taxpayers vote the necessary bonds. It is fair to presume that public sentiment favors it, but it is possible opposition may develop. The matter of location is open to discussion. Now is the time to thresh out the problem, for the school board must of necessity move with some promptness so that the new building may be opened by Christmas time next year and so that increasing prices for materials may be forestalled as much as possible.

COUNCIL O.K.S HIRING OF HEALTH NURSE

By unanimous vote, the city fathers last evening decided to hire a city health nurse. The plan of having a permanent city nurse grew out of the efforts of the ladies of the Civic club who have been interested in the project for several months.
