March 5, 1970 – PROMOTIONS AT DOVER

There were several promotions at Pack River’s Dover planing mill after the recent elevation of John Summers to work on overall recovery at all divisions. Sam Paris took over Summers’ spot as sales manager and plant superintendent, and Sam Wilson took Sam’s former job as shipping foreman. About the same time, planer foreman Ralph Chicks retired and Roland Lundblad, yard and dry kiln foreman, took on additional duties as planer foreman. Howard Ridley is night foreman.

SCHOOL BOARD LISTS OLD FARMIN

District No. 82 placed the Old Farmin school property on the market again Tuesday, Clerk Wayne Hagadone signing a one-year contract with the Bonner-Boundary County Board of Realtors. The sale of the building is regarded by the district as important to future building plans.

Old Farmin is located on an extra large block in the heart of Sandpoint, bordered by Oak and Main on the north, by Second on the east, Church on the South, and Third on the West.

ADMITTED TO PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM

A Sandpoint senior at Eastern Washington State College, Denice K. Strohmaier, is among those admitted to the college’s professional education program. Mrs. Strohmaier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Lutzke, 806 Oak St., is a graduate of Sandpoint Senior High School and is majoring in music at EWSC.

March 5, 1920 – CITY BREVITIES

Chief of Police Kitchen, who has started a campaign of education as to how autos should be driven on the streets, haled Art Cash into police court Wednesday for speeding and failure to observe the regulations as to rounding the corners where sand barrels are located. Mrs. O.F. Page and Fred Dufloth were called in the same day for failure to see the barrels. The terms are $5 and costs for the first lesson.

NEW MAN AT EXPERIMENT FARM

The vacancy at the experiment farm left by the Resignation of superintendent F.H. Lafrenz, has been filled by C.W. Rainey, who arrived here Monday. Mr. Rainey comes from St. Maries.

THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD BOY VICTIM

John Alvin Pearson, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Pearson, died Wednesday morning of pneumonia, following influenza. His funeral takes place at the Lutheran church at 2 p.m. today, conducted by Rev. H.J. Stolee.
