World Cup — The ladies had two events canceled at La Thuile, Italy, this week and settled for only a super-G. Alice McKennis finished 27th followed closely by Breezy Johnson in 30th.

The men were at Hinterstoder, Austria, where Tommy Ford led three Americans into the points placing 12th in giant slalom, followed by Ryan Cochran-Siegle in 15th and Ted Ligety in 16th. Travis Ganong finished 15th in super-G, followed by Cochran-Siegle in 16th and Steve Nyman in 19th. Cochran-Siegle paired a solid slalom run to place 18th in the Alpine combined. Bryce Bennett was 21st.

Nordic Nationals — Sandpoint High School student Annaby Kanning will head to Soda Springs, California, for Nordic Junior Nationals this Saturday through March 14. This will be her third consecutive nationals, where she will compete in cross country. Kanning trains largely alone locally, but represents the Spokane Nordic Club.

Starlight Race Series Finale — The final night of competition was held Friday on good, hard snow. Although we’ve been reporting raw times to this point, the finale awards were based upon times adjusted for age, gender, discipline, etc.

Individual winners were: Alpine – Tom Chasse and Melissa Rossman, Snowboard – Anton Poque and Tracy Tuttle, Telemark – Gary Quinn and Dig Chrismer. The winning team was the Flappergasters comprised of Tom Chasse, Tracy Tuttle, Dig Chrismer, Scott Auld and Colleen White.

Masters Races — The Schweitzer Alpine Racing School will host Masters week starting Friday. Racers age 21 and up will compete in super-G, giant slalom and slalom.
