Sandpoint man sought for arrest
SANDPOINT — A Sandpoint man thought to be in the company of a missing or runaway teen from Washington state is wanted for arrest, according to court documents.
Michael Edward Johnson is being sought for arrest for allegedly evading supervised probation in a felony domestic violence case which resulted in traumatic injury.
First District Judge Fred Gibler ordered Johnson to serve a two- to five-year prison term on Feb. 7, but suspended imposition of that sentence and placed Johnson on probation for two years, court records indicate. The Idaho Department of Correction moved to revoke Johnson’s probation on Thursday, after a probation officer was unable to contact him by phone or locate him at his place of residence in Sandpoint.
Judge Barbara Buchanan granted the motion on Friday and issued a bench warrant for Johnson’s arrest, according to court documents.
Johnson was arrested by Sandpoint Police on Oct. 29, 2019, for allegedly punching and kicking the mother of his child. Johnson denied there was any physical contact with the woman outside of him pushing her arms away when she tried to hug him.
The alleged victim in the case, however, was bleeding from the mouth and coughing up blood, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Johnson was further accused of violating no-contact orders in the case while it was pending, court records show.
The motion Johnson’s probation notes that he may be with Madison West, 16-year-old from Spokane who is either missing or a runaway.
“Mr. Johnson has a violent criminal history and has shown he is a danger to the community,” Senior Probation/Parole Officer Dan Lorden said in a motion to revoke Johnson’s probation.
Those with information about West’s whereabouts are asked to call Bonner Dispatch at 208-265-5525.
