Mar. 17, 1970 – THANKS

The quick response of Sandpoint Fire Dept. and Volunteers Cliff Miller and Ken Gantenbein during our fire Friday is greatly appreciated. I am very proud of the work of the Injectors Auto Club, which voluntarily helped clean up Saturday. Thanks also to Paul Kemp who offered the use of his lube room. Harold Riese – Hal’s Texaco.

ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Piatt, Sandpoint, announce the engagement of their daughter, Susan Diane, to G. William Knepper Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Knepper, Buffalo, Wyo.

Miss Piatt is a junior at the U of I where she majors in elementary education. The engagement was announced at Houston Hall at a fireside ceremony with passage of the traditional candle.

Mr. Knepper, also a U of I student, will graduate this spring with a degree in electrical engineering.

JULY DATE PLANNED

Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Smith, Fernan Hill, announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Corine M. to Michael J. Thompson, son of Mrs. Helen M. Thompson, Sandpoint. A July 18 wedding at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church is planned. The future bride, who graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and North Idaho Junior College, is employed as a staff writer for the Spokesman-Review, Spokane. Her fiance, a graduate of Sandpoint High School and Eastern Washington State College, is manager of The Alpine Shop in the Coeur d’Alene Mall.

A son (Bill) was born last week to Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Chronic of Main street.

Miss Mary Kafflen, who has been with the Royal confectionery, and her brother, Karl Kafflen, who came here recently from Spokane, purchased the Royal confectionery from William Nieman, taking possession the first of the month. Mr. Nieman, who has been the confectionery proprietor for ten years, retires to devote his time to his ranch.

PACK RIVER – SUNNYSIDE

Reverend Wallen of Kootenai held services at the schoolhouse last Tuesday evening, after giving a most interesting talk to the school children on Tuesday afternoon.

Tom Look and wife and three children are down with the flu. Dr. Wendle is in attendance.

COUNTY NURSE BEGINS WORK

Miss Hedvig Djupe, recently employed by the city and school district as a city nurse, has arrived in the city from Boise and begun her duties here.
