May 7, 1920 – OPENING FOR J.L. & CO.

The new store of Jennestad, Larson and company in the former Northern Mercantile block on First and Main will be formally opened to the public tomorrow when management will provide an orchestra for the evening.

J.L. & company bought the block Dec. 20 giving $20,000 for the property at that time occupied by Kerr and Nead. J.L. and company remodeled the interior of the ground floor to accommodate an enlarged stock of mens’ and boys’ furnishings. The improvements cost several thousand dollars, and include a new floor of coast fir, new fixtures of the same and heavy oak clothing cabinets.

The moving of stock and some of the old fixtures from the former establishment on First avenue between Main and Church streets took place last week, in time for an informal opening last Saturday. During the week the remainder of the stock and equipment has been moved and it is hoped that more display cabinets will be here in time for the formal opening Saturday.
