May 10, 1970 — LUCKY NUMBER 8

The weighing of a Kamloops Saturday brought to light the lucky number of Miss Sandpoint, Kitty Timblin. Miss Timblin and her father Bud Timblin, Sunnyside, were fishing with their neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Palmer, when Palmer caught his Kamloops. As Larry Rife weighed the fish at 8 lb., 8 1/8 oz., Miss Sandpoint remarked that No. 8 was her lucky number in the recent pageant.

NEWS FROM HOPE

Miss Carolyn Berkey, a freshman at Boise State College, flew into Spokane for a weekend visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Berkey. She came to attend the Eastern Star installation Saturday at the Sandpoint Masonic Temple when her mother was installed as the worthy matron.

For Loyalty Day, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Trester, members of the Sandpoint VFW Post 2453 and auxiliary, made bookmarks to observe the day, which were distributed to the Hope, Clark Fork, Northside and Kootenai grade schools to help students become more aware of our free country.

Pend d’Oreille Review

May 10, 1920 — ROAD DISTRICT DISCUSSED

The proposition of creating an independent road district in the city with some territory outside was discussed by the city council. Whereas the city now receives an approximate road revenue from the county of about $750, under the state law governing independent districts, the city would receive about $4,500. The chief basis for such action was that while the county roads are in a good state, the impassable condition of the city’s streets during the rainy weather caused much complaint from farmers and ranchers using the city as their selling and purchasing market. The matter was turned over to the City Attorney.

DO YOUR BEST

Everyone should do all he can to provide for his family and to do this he must keep his physical system in the best condition possible. No one can do much when he is half sick a good share of the time. If you are constipated, bilious or troubled with indigestion get a package of Chamberlain’s Tablets, follow the directions, and you will soon be feeling all right and able to do a day’s work.
