We want to know where our food is coming from

| May 15, 2020 1:00 AM

We, the American people, want to know where our groceries are coming from. That simple! It’s true that much of our produce is labeled as to where it is grown. Some of the pickles we buy state “product of India.” But many of the items we buy, come from, who knows where. We don’t care about “distributed by” which is usually printed on most labels. Are they hiding something from us? We want to know “product of” (what country) and where it was “processed” (country). We want this information printed on all labels affixed to all food products, whether in cans, bottles, jars, plastic bags, or whatever kind of container. In the years (2007, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019) some dog foods and treats were responsible for the deaths of thousands of dogs, here in the U.S. and in Europe. The problem (heart wrenching)was traced back to China (Google). In 2017, the U.S. imported over $4 billion in agricultural products from China. Also snack foods, spices, tea and … (Google)

I have contacted our federal representatives’ and senators’ regional offices which pass these comments on to their respective office holders in Washington, D.C., and received positive responses to the above suggestions. Now if enough people will take the few minutes it takes to contact their elected officials and also ask their relatives and friends to do the same, word would spread quickly and this truth in labeling process will and should happen.
