Memorial Day events planned

SANDPOINT — A slate of events are on tap for Memorial Day weekend.

On Saturday, May 23, crews will install the aisles of flags and place flags on veterans’ graves, beginning at 9 a.m. at Pinecrest, followed by Lakeview at 11 a.m.

Those interested should bring along a screwdriver or similar tool to poke a hole in the sold to make placing the flags easier as well as a pair of gloves.

On Monday, Memorial Day:

Lineup for Memorial Day services at Pinecrest Cemetery begin at 9 a.m. with the ceremony starting shortly afterward. At Lakeview, lineup for the tribute begins at 1 p.m. with the ceremony starting shortly afterward. Honors will be rendered by the Marine Corps League honors detail.

All community members are invited to attend either or both of the services to pay their respects to those who have died in service to their country.
