Janice Lorene Forgey Boatwright went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 6, 2020. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter in Clarkston, Washington.

She was born on April 8, 1943, to Robert (Bob) and Ruth (Spealman) Forgey in Sandpoint, Idaho. Her education started at Lincoln Grade School and went on to Sandpoint Junior High. As a student at Sandpoint High School, she was very involved in the music program where she played the oboe in the band, orchestra, pep band, and marching band and took honors classes. She graduated in 1961 and attended Kinman Business University in Spokane, Washinton.

She and her sister Karen moved to Southern California in 1964. There she met James (Jim) Boatwright, a gunnery sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and they were married in 1966. She followed Jim to several of his assignments, but when he was stationed in Japan, she came back to Sandpoint to be with her folks.

An avid reader and student of the visual arts and performing arts, she was involved in her local church and Women’s Aglow where she held leadership positions. She and Jim owned and managed the Christian Bookstore in Sandpoint.

Janice enjoyed gardening, drama, traveling, and writing. Her gift as an artist was shared many times in many ways. One room of her house was devoted to her studio.

She is survived by her daughter, Jenni (Boatwright) Snyder, son-in-law, Joe and three grandchildren, Emerson, Killian, and Quinlyn. Also surviving her are two sisters, Karen (Forgey) Perttunen (James) of Marquette, Michigan, and Margaret (Forgey) Churchwell of Missoula, Montana; as well as three nieces and 27 first cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
