Monica E. Beaudoin, 83, passed away in Sandpoint on Saturday, October 31, 2020.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday November 6, 2020 at St Joseph Catholic Church with Father Sleeva officiating.

Monica Eunice Warren Beaudoin was born to James and Grace Warren on December 1, 1937 in Williston, North Dakota. Monica graduated from Dickinson State University in 1958. While at Dickinson, she was Homecoming Royalty. She started teaching in Bismarck N.D. In 1960 she married Kenneth E Beaudoin in Dickinson. They moved to Greybull, Wyoming to continue their teaching careers. In 1963 they moved to Burns, Oregon and after a trip through Sandpoint they moved there in 1965 and started a long teaching career.

Monica taught PE and Social Studies. She had an impact on many children’s lives. She spent all her life advocating for the teaching and learning profession.

Monica served two terms in the Idaho House of Representatives. She was very active in the Idaho Education Association at both the local and state level. She was elected to lead the IEA as the President. Monica served on the National Education Board of Directors. After she retired in 1997, she was on the NEA Retired teacher board and traveled to Washington D C to attend Board meetings. She was well respected in those organizations.

After retirement, she and Ken joined the Rainbow Chasers camping club. She served as President and planned many camping trips. They greatly enjoyed their trips all across the country from Alaska to the East Coast. They made great friends in the club. They spend many winters in their RV in the Southwest and Texas.

Monica was preceded in death by her parents, sister Angela, niece Jaylene Brenden, and greatnephew Ricky. She is survived by her husband, niece Roberta Halverson and her sons Derek, Donovan, Devery and nephew Ronald (Denise) Mead and their son Sam and daughter Jesse.
