Dolores Maxine Courtney, 96, passed away in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Nov. 7, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Father Sleeva from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will be officiating. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Dolores Maxine Courtney was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1924. She had a knack for picking up languages but spoke fluent Spanish, which came in handy as a receptionist at Chino Unified School District in California.

She lived in many places in the United States and could always find work as a secretary, receptionist, or waitressing. She had a deep love of learning and owned thousands of books, always reading the latest novels and researching major issues in the world to get a better understanding. She took writing classes and hoped to write a novel but never completed that dream. She was obsessed with animals and all of her children always grew up with a menagerie of critters. She was always rescuing animals.

After retiring she moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, where she lived with her husband until his death in 2012. She then moved to Coeur d’Alene where she resided at the retirement community, Garden Plaza.

She has four children, Antoinette Treling, Iris Siegler, Ernst Berg, and David Hart. She has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed
