Sandpoint Elks expand their ranks
The Sandpoint, Idaho lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elk is proud to announce that they recently increased their numbers by 12 new members.
At the September 22, 2020 lodge meeting an even dozen local men and women were initiated into the Elks community service organization at the lodge building in Ponderay.
Whether more people have discovered they have time to support their community, or the world situation has created an urgency to do something positive, this is an exciting event for the Elks. “We’re growing and doing more for Bonner and Boundary counties”, said Linda Tatlock, current Exalted Ruler of the Sandpoint Lodge.
Each new member commented on the good things the Elks do in the community and their desire to participate in the various Elks projects and activities. They will be put to good use. The Elks have provided financial and physical support to students, veterans, Boy Scouts, elderly, and a variety of non-profit organizations for …….well, exactly 100 years. Founded in 1920, we are celebrating our centennial during October, 2020.
Over the past 5 years, through fund raisers, operating the golf course and grants from Grand Lodge, Sandpoint Elks have donated over $75,000 to local individuals and groups.
