The Coolin Stage that started on Monday was greatly delayed on the outward trip by the impassable condition of the road. On Tuesday morning it had not yet passed the experiment station on its outward journey.

Taffy pull enjoyed
A taffy pull was held Sunday evening at the O. A. Miller home, with many interesting games and stunts played. Everyone reported a pleasant evening, despite the fact that several fingers were blistered.

Coyotes trapped
Pete Morrow reports that he and Whetsler have been successful in trapping better than 58 coyotes since Oct. 1.

Mark Twain will narrate
On Nov. 23, at 8 p.m., the curtain will rise of this season’s drama opener at Priest River High, a collection of one-act plays presented by the senior class. The feature performance will be Bruce Harold, who will portray Mark Twain, in his own Mississippi style, narrating.

Hard pull damages ferry
In trying to pull the Laclede ferry out of the water with the county’s Caterpillar, one end of the boat was badly damaged when the tractor pulled some of the planking loose. The ferry, which sank last week, was to be pulled up on the shore for repairs.

Lake landmark sold
Marge Roberts has announced the sale of the Leonard Paul Store at Coolin to Kenneth Brown of Spokane. The first store was built by Leonard Paul in 1906 and was a Little Log Trading Post-type of building. The present building was built in 1926 with Noel Thompson of Spokane has architect. The store has been operated by the Leonard Paul family from 1906 to the present date. The new owners will take possession on Jan. 1, 1971.

Stewart stands out
First team Intermountain League running back Gary Stewart stands out offensively. Stewart gained a total of 630 yards through rushing and receiving. The graduating senior gained 440 yards on 92 carries for a 4.7 yard-average per carry, and caught 18 passes for 190 yards.

Serac closes
Although tentatively scheduled to reopen the middle of this month with approximately one-third of its staff hired back, Serac Manufacturing has closed its Priest River facility for good. Marketing Director Bob Hamilton said expenses of keeping the Priest River site going prompted the shutdown.

Dickensheet rec bridge dedicated
A ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opened the Dickensheet Recreation Bridge last Wednesday, at which point the bridge received a new name. It will now be known as the Gene Nett Bridge, in honor of a volunteer who worked so hard to make the bridge possible.
