Cold feet get the boot at Idaho Hill Elementary

| November 25, 2020 1:00 AM

OLDTOWN — Cold feet are a thing of the past at Idaho Hill Elementary thanks to a partnership between Optum Idaho, the Idaho State Department of Education, and North 40 Outfitters.

The "Give Cold Feet the Boot" campaign, now in its second year, selected eight schools in the state, including the Oldtown school, to give every child in the schools a new pair of winter boots. In addition, North 40 Outfitters donated a pair of socks to each child, helping to ensure the students' feet are kept warm this winter season.

The campaign doubled the number of schools selected for the effort.

“Optum Idaho is committed to serving communities throughout our state,” said Optum Idaho Executive Director Georganne Benjamin. “Thousands of Idaho students arrive at school each morning with cold feet because they don’t have proper winter footwear, which threatens their ability to learn and puts a strain on dedicated teachers, administrators, counselors and support staff. Together with our partners, we are helping to address this concern this winter.”

In addition to Idaho Hill, boots were given to students at Wilder Elementary in Wilder; McGhee Elementary School, Lewiston; Jefferson Elementary School, Boise; Hansen Elementary School, Hansen; Chief Tahgee Elementary School, Fort Hall; Washington Elementary School, Pocatello; and Roberts Elementary School, Roberts.
